Thirukkural
Ramasamy hailed the Thirukkural as a valuable scripture which contained many scientific and philosophical truths. He also praised the secular nature of the work. Ramasamy praised Thiruvalluvar for his description of God as a formless entity with only positive attributes. He also suggested that one who reads the Thirukkural will become a Self-respecter, absorbing knowledge in politics, society, and economics. According to him, though certain items in this ancient book of ethics may not relate to today, it permitted such changes for modern society.
On caste, he believed that the Kural illustrates how Vedic laws of Manu were against the Sudras and other communities of the Dravidian race. On the other hand, Ramasamy opined that the ethics from the Kural was comparable to the Christian Bible. The Dravidar Kazhagam adopted the Thirukkural and advocated that Thiruvalluvar's Kural alone was enough to educate the people of the country. One of Ramasamy's quotes on the Thirukkural from Veeramani's Collected Works of Ramasamy was "when Dravida Nadu (Dravidistan) was a victim to Indo-Aryan deceit, Thirukkural was written by a great Dravidian Thiruvalluvar to free the Dravidians".
Ramasamy also asserted that due to the secular nature of Thirukkural, it has the capacity to be the common book of faith for all humanity and can be kept on par or above the holy books of all religions.

Pitha Pirai Soodi - O Crazy Lord
Ragam : Nadanamakriya Deity : Sivan
Pann : Indalam
Talam : Rupakam
piththA piRai sUdI perumAnE aruLALA
eththAn maRavAdhE ~ninaikkindREn manaththu unnai
vaiththAy peNNaith thenbAl veNNey ~nallUr aruL thuRaiyuL
aththA unakku ALAy ini allEn enal AmE.
Meaning:
O crazy one! O the one who is wearing the crescent moon! O the great one! O the one who bestows blessings! You have installed yourself in my mind. I remember you always without forgetting in any manner. O father in the aruL thuRai temple in the town of veNNey ~nallUr on the southern banks of the peNNai river! How can I say any more that I am not your slave?
Background:
ArUran was the son of a temple priest. When he was a young child, the local king liked ArUran so much that he raised him in his palace as if he were his child. When ArUran was about 16 years or so, his parents arranged his wedding. On the day of the wedding, an old brahmin came into the wedding hall and stopped the marriage saying that ArUran was his slave. ArUran called the old man a crazy person and questioned how a brahmin could be a slave to another brahmin. The case went to the village elders. The village elders investigated the evidence presented by the old man and decided the case in favor of the old man. Thus, ArUran was declared the slave of the old man. The old man led ArUran (and others) into the temple and disappeared only to appear as Siva and pArvathi to ArUran. Siva reminded ArUran of his past and asked him to sing. ArUran did not know how to start. Siva instructed to him to start the song with the first words that ArUran used when he saw the old man in the wedding hall. This is that very first song sung by ArUran. That is why this song starts by addressing the god as the “crazy one”. (su~ndharar is the name ArUran in his previous life. After the above event, he came to be referred by that name only).

Three Journey
Sundarar was a great friend of the king of Chera Kingdom called Cheraman Perumal in the present Kerala. Cheraman Perumal, the king, accorded Sundaramoorthy a royal welcome.

The friends spent joyful days together in the palace. Sundaramoorthy then took leave of Cheraman Perumal. By now he had gone weary of worldly life and wanted to merge in the effulgence of Lord Shiva.

He prayed to the Lord to break all his bonds. Shiva asked Indra to send his elephant Iravada to bring Sundaramoorthy skyward to Kailasa.

Sundara mounted the great white elephant and paid a last visit to his trusted friend Cheraman at Tiru Anjaikkalam ( திருவஞ்சைக்களம்), located in the vicinity of Kodungallur, near Thrissur. On learning about Sundara's itinerary, Cheraman wanted to accompany him; so he mounted his horse

and whispered the Panchaakshaara into his ear. It was his belief that Shiva's mantra, the Panchakshara, was more potent than the Lord himself.

The horse swiftly rose up and circled Sundara’s white elephant and galloped ahead of Sundara toward Kailasa.

When this procession was passing through Tirukoilur they invited the old poetess Avvaiyar offering prayers to lord Ganesha to join them. She told them to go ahead and said she would come after the puja. Though Sundara could get ready entry into Kailasa, the gates to Kailasa were closed for Cheraman, and he sang THIRUKKAYILAYA GNANA ULA " also known as AADHI ULA that describes Siva's abode in the finest detail. The gates of the kailasa opened to let Cheraman in. After the prayer, Avvaiya sang “seetha kaLaba senthaamarai...”. Ganesha was so pleased with her that that he lifted her by this trunk and placed her in front of Lord Shiva and Parvati in mount Kailash.

After some time Sundara and the entourage came along and were surprised to see her there. They wondered how she reached Kailash before they did. So Avvai sang another song that goes:
matura moḻi nalumaiyāḷ ciṟuvaṉ malaraṭiyai
mutira niṉaiya vallārk(ku) aritō? mukilpōl muḻaṅki
atiravarum yāṉaiyum tērum ataṉpiṉ ceṉṟa
kutiraiyum kātam kiḻaviyum kātam kula maṉṉaṉē
the gist of which is “for those who contemplates always on the lotus feet of the son of parashakti any chariot, elephant, horse and foot soldiers have to follow at a distance.”
